When I went to submit a paper this morning to Sage Open, I was shocked to see a notice that the APC fee was being increased to $1,200 USD on15 March 2021. However, this is some serious inflation, as when Sage Open began in 2011, their APC fee was only $99. In 2019, it was increased to $800 (immediately after being accepted in the WoS index). I might also add that with these price increases have come an almost turtle like crawl through their review process (their submission process is also terribly complex and confusing). As I write this in February 2021, Heliyon (Elsevier's equivalent) comparatively speaking, is a jack rabbit.
