How many Scopus indexed Social Science journals are in Thailand and which should I choose to submit my paper?

 1. Go to this link:

https://www.scimagojr.com/journalrank.php?country=TH

2. On 2 February 2021 there were 58 total Scopus listed journals.

3. Next filter the search by using the top left pull-down menu for "All Subject Areas"

Select 'Social Sciences'/

4. This will return this list of 11 journals:

5. What is  your paper's topic?

Most will find that only KJSS and ABAC are potential matches.

6. What is the Quartile requirement from your faculty/university?

Many Thai doctoral programs will allow papers to be published in lower tier (Q3 or Q4) journals. However, if you are already a university academic, you might be required to publish in a Q1 or Q2 tier for academic rank consideration or tenure. If this is the case, your options are limited to 3 choices.  However, if your paper is not about 'population', you are left with but one choice, KJSS (Kasetsart University).

6. If you are a doctoral student it appears you have more available choices but if you look closely, the remaining journals are highly specialized. The only other journal which might actually fit with your paper about branding, CSR, or the marketing-mix is ABAC. Is this a good choice?

Lets look at how many papers they published in their most recent issue and how often do they publish an issue.

In this issue there are a total of NINE papers. Only nine. Since ABAC publishes only 4 issues a year, that is approximately 40 papers a year.

So then, what are your chances of getting your paper accepted and published in ABAC?

Although it is not stated by ABAC, conservatively most Scopus indexed social science journals receive between 700-1,200 papers a year, with some receiving far more. Therefore, unless you know someone who knows someone, my guess is your chances are slim to none.

KJSS might be a better bet but it will take a very long time and it will not be easy.

With most Thai students being forced to now select a journal in a non-Thai speaking country (the rest of the world) it astounds me to still see the vast majority of papers sent to me for editing having 80% or more of their references in the Thai language to Thai papers and books with no link to the document or any chance of it ever being found! Of course 100% of these references have no digital object identifier (DOI) that most journals which are APA Edition 7 now require
